Holiday Weekend Tips

Posted on July 3, 2021July 4, 2021

Heading into the 2021 4th of July weekend here are a variety of quick tips for Internet marketers. The 4th of July celebrates freedom. Internet marketing is a path to personal wealth and freedom from the 9-5 job.

I left the standard workforce many years ago, gaining my  independence from working for people I wouldn’t hire. You never get ahead working for someone else. Those days are gone.

Have fun with family and friends celebrating the 4th of July weekend. Use these 3-days to refresh your mind and body. Then return Tuesday with vigor and renewed confidence in your ability to build an Internet business.

Easy Audio Recording

I just ordered a lavalier mic to use with my very small Olympus digital voice recorder (VN8100PC). I’ve had the recorder for a few years and decided to use it again while driving. I’m one of those people you see talking to themselves behind the wheel.

What I’m actually doing is rehearsing clips for my podcast. My smartphone is okay for this, but a dedicated recording device is better – bring on the Olympus!

My plan is record and upload the file to an audio editor. I posted a video on this subject that mentioned Headliner (site is headliner.app). I’m testing Headliner now using the free version.

I’ll come back with a review of the lavalier and Headliner after using them for a while. Use this link for lavalier specs or click on the image. Oh, I should mention the cost is $10. https://amzn.to/3lIrOYr

Data Security

Since losing my primary website to hackers a while back I’ve enhanced my data security. These tips may help you prevent data loss. I earn no commissions from these sites. These are security tools I’ve used for several years.

  • If you don’t have a VPN get one. I use Express VPN.
  • Use DuckDuckGo to search the web.
  • Set up daily backup of your site. I use Jetpack.
  • Back up your HDs to the cloud. Use an automatic service such as Carbonite.
  • Secure your data with top level security software. I use Eset.
  • Select a quality site hosting service. Here’s an article comparing top services.
  • Update your OS and other software on schedule.
  • Login to various sites using your original email and password. Avoid logging in using Facebook or Google.

General Advice

  • Stop wasting time with “shiny objects”. Use tried and true business building processes.
  • Understand there is no purchase that will generate $$$$$$$ overnight. Making money online is work.
  • Read one quality Internet marketing book a month.
  • Not every approach to online business is right for you.
  • Sell what people are buying.
  • Be slow to invest in training or mentoring courses. Make sure you know what you’re buying.
  • If you buy training finish the course. 80% of people purchasing online training never finish.
  • Don’t be judgmental. Have an open mind to new ideas and processes.
  • Do not quit. You can earn a reasonable amount online. Often what you make online is more than you made offline last year.
  • Be positive. Your mental attitude is reflected in your work and what you write.
  • People do business with people they like who deliver what they promise, act like they want the business, and don’t give them a headache.

Affiliate Marketing

  • The stores you shop often offer affiliate marketing relationships.
  • Go to the vendor site and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Click on ‘affiliates’ or a similar term.
  • Lowe’s, Home Depot, Bass Pro Shops, and many you may not recognize host affiliate programs. Click here for an article with more detail.
  • Sell in a niche you know. Your personal insight is very important.
    • Examples:
    • Gardening – plant marigolds among other plants. Marigolds are a natural pest repellant.
    • DIY – Fill worn hinge screw holes with toothpicks dipped in white glue. Let dry overnight, trim surface and reattach hinge using original screws.
    •  Food and cooking – Reduce heavy salmon flavor by placing filet(s) in a container with a bit of vodka. The vodka softens the natural taste.
  • As Steve Jobs said, “Find products for your customers, not customers for your products”.

Conclusion

When  working online you are running a business. The degree of online money-making success is dependent on your effort, understanding of the process, and ability to learn good practices.

Use common sense and control your expectations. One step at a time is the motivator leading to success.
